I had the opportunity to visit Chicago recently on a business trip. Not only did I have the privilege to work with a new client – Greener Pastures Group – but I also got in a little sightseeing, food and wine, and yes, Chicago Blues! Yes, it was a working trip but when the laptops closed I experienced some of the best food I have had in a long time. The city is so clean with art everywhere, I can’t wait to go back and catch one of their “Chicago Broadway” shows!
Our group dined at Shula’s (Hall of Fame football coach Don Shula and his chain of steak houses). Most everyone had a steak of course, but there was Lobster to be found among us! The lobster wasn’t mine, but it was huge and I hear it was delicious! And the dessert…? Well, what do you think?!
My favorite evening was at Trattoria No. 10 – a fine Italian Restaurant. I was treated with the best Asparagus Ravioli ever, Prosciutto and Melon, and a Caesar Salad that rivals Stephen Pyles back in Dallas.
Then to top off the evening, some great, down home Chicago Blues with Demetria Taylor. (I took home her CD and have NOT been disappointed!)
Here is a peek of the great North area of downtown that runs along the river –
Overall – 2 thumbs up for Chicago and the Westin Chicago River North Hotel – a wonderful experience!
Happy and safe travels! Love and Peace –
PS – I wrote a short poem about traveling on the flight up to Chicago, check it out and let me know what you think. You will find it here on Saturdaysoul.com.
